Frequently Asked Questions
1. About KaushikDhwanee
What is KaushikDhwanee?
KaushikDhwanee is a creative arts academy based in Kondapur, Hyderabad, offering structured training in music, dance, and art through offline, online, and hybrid learning formats. We focus on long-term skill development through disciplined learning, guided practice, performance opportunities, and certifications.
What makes KaushikDhwanee different from other academies?
KaushikDhwanee combines structured learning, experienced faculty, performance exposure, certification pathways, flexibility in learning formats, and a philosophy rooted in Shiksha–Diksha–Pariksha — learn, practise, perform. One of our biggest differentiators is our strong focus on making effective use of technology to significantly enhance learning quality and outcomes. We use technology to reduce communication gaps between teachers, students, and parents, to make learning more structured, to track progress better, and to create a more connected and consistent learning experience across offline, online, and hybrid formats.
What is your vision and mission?
Our vision is to build a full-stack AI-enabled creative arts education ecosystem and to make high-quality creative arts education accessible, affordable, structured, and scalable for learners everywhere.
Our mission is to nurture talent in music, dance, and art through disciplined training, thoughtful use of technology, structured curriculum, meaningful certification pathways, and hybrid learning models that combine human teaching with modern systems.
At a deeper level, we are trying to solve major barriers in creative arts education such as fragmented learning, limited access, weak progress tracking, and communication gaps between teachers, students, and parents. Our philosophy remains rooted in Shiksha–Diksha–Pariksha — learn with passion, practise with discipline, and perform with confidence.
Who is the founder of KaushikDhwanee?
KaushikDhwanee was founded by Kaushik Lahoti, who now leads the academy as Founder & CEO.

What is your teaching format?
We teach in group sessions as well as 1:1.
Which course is best for me?
That depends on your interest, age, goals, current level, and whether you are learning for enjoyment, serious hobby, certification, or long-term growth. The best way to decide is through a demo session, where our team can guide you properly. Demo booking link: https://calendly.com/kdhwanee
I am confused between multiple courses. What should I do?
We recommend attending demo sessions for the shortlisted options. Once we understand the student's interest, aptitude, and goals, we can help identify the most suitable course.
Can I learn more than one activity at the same time?
Yes, but with some balance. For children, one or two activities can work very well, especially combinations such as vocal plus instrument, or music plus dance/art. We generally do not recommend three or more at once. For adults, one activity is often the most practical unless the learner has the time and commitment to handle more.
Can I switch courses later?
Yes, course switching is possible in many cases, depending on timing, batch availability, and the student's learning stage.
3. Age, Eligibility, and Who Can Learn
What is the minimum age for each course?
Typical starting ages are:
- Art: 4+ years
- Classical Dance: 5+ years
- Keyboard & Piano: 5+ years
- Carnatic Vocal: 5+ years
- Hindustani Vocal & Tabla: 8+ years
- Guitar: 7+ years
These are general guidelines. In some cases, readiness matters as much as age.
I am an adult. Can I still start learning now?
Absolutely. We strongly believe there is no upper age limit for learning creative arts. Many learners begin as adults and progress beautifully with sincere effort and continuity.
I don't have any musical or artistic background. Can I still learn?
Yes. Many students begin as complete beginners. What matters most is interest, regular attendance, and willingness to practise.
Is creative arts learning only for children?
Not at all. Children benefit immensely, but adults and senior learners also gain a lot from structured creative arts learning — including focus, confidence, joy, discipline, and personal growth.
4. Demo Class and Admission
Do you offer trial classes?
Yes. We offer a free demo class before enrolment so you can experience our teaching approach.
How can I book a demo?
You can book a demo through our online booking link or call our team directly for assistance. Demo booking link: https://calendly.com/kdhwanee
How long is the demo class?
A typical demo lasts around 20 to 40 minutes.
What happens in the demo class?
In the demo, we understand the student's interest, assess prior exposure if any, observe current level and learning ability, and help identify the right path ahead. It also gives the student and parent a chance to experience the teacher, the learning environment, and the KaushikDhwanee approach.
What happens after the demo?
Our teacher provides detailed feedback and a star rating for the student. Students receive this information instantly via WhatsApp message and email. The admin in charge also reviews this feedback, and based on the demo, we recommend the most appropriate course structure, learning plan, and fee package. Once the student is ready, we guide them through the enrolment process.
How do I enrol after the demo?
Enrolment can be completed through the academy's payment/enrolment link or with direct assistance from the team. Enrolment link: https://pages.razorpay.com/kdregistration
When can I start classes after enrolment?
In most cases, students can begin immediately after enrolment, depending on batch availability.
Is there a last date to join a batch?
Usually no. Students can typically join at different points, and we align them with the most suitable available batch.
What happens in the first regular class?
The first class usually focuses on orientation, basics, understanding the student's starting point, and setting a proper learning foundation.
If students join at different times in a group class, how do you ensure that all are able to learn simultaneously?
For many activities such as Keyboard, Guitar, and Art, even though a group of students are learning together, the teacher is often teaching one student at a time within the group setting.
For many classical music and dance activities such as Hindustani Vocal, Carnatic Vocal, Kathak, and Bharatanatyam, there are always a few things that remain common to all students — the lowest common denominator. In classical art pursuit, basic aspects often need to be worked on for a long period of time, so that part of the learning stays relevant to both a student of five years and one who joined five days ago. Beyond this, how to engage every student effectively is very much a teacher's skill.
5. Batches, Schedules, and Flexibility
Do you have fixed schedules or flexible schedules?
We offer multiple batch timings across weekdays, weekends, and evening slots, depending on the course. For certain activities such as Keyboard, Art, Guitar, and Piano, we offer complete flexibility. For activities that have fixed batches such as Vocal, Tabla, and Dance, we offer multiple batches, so if you miss a class in one batch, you can often make up for it on other days.
Can I choose my batch timing?
Yes, you can choose from available timings for your selected activity.
What if my preferred batch is full?
We will suggest the nearest available timing or place you on a waiting list if appropriate.
Are kids and adults placed in the same batch?
It depends on the type of activity. We have activities in which children and adults learn in the same batch, while for a few activities there is a clear separation between young children, older children, and adult batches.
Can I shift from offline to online classes or vice versa?
Yes, switching between formats may be possible depending on availability and the course structure.
Do you offer weekend batches?
Yes, many activities have weekend options as well.
Are schedules the same for every course?
No. Each activity has its own batch timings and teacher schedule.
6. Fees, Packages, and Validity
What types of fee packages do you offer?
We broadly offer two types of packages:
- Limited Validity Packages — these end when either the package duration is over or the number of classes is completed, whichever comes first.
- Lifetime Validity Packages (LTV) — these do not have a time-based expiry; only attended classes are counted.
What are your common limited-validity packages?
Common options include:
- 12 weeks – 24 classes
- 24 weeks – 48 classes
- 12 weeks – 36 classes
- 24 weeks – 72 classes
The exact suitability depends on the course and student's weekly frequency.
What are your lifetime validity packages?
Common LTV options include:
- 20 sessions
- 40 sessions
These are useful for students who need more time flexibility.
What is the difference between limited validity and lifetime validity packages?
Limited validity packages are best for students who want a structured timeline and regular progression. Lifetime validity packages are better for learners who may need flexibility, since only actual attendance is counted and there is no fixed end date.
Which fee package should I choose?
That depends on your age, commitment level, weekly schedule, learning goal, and the course selected. Our team usually recommends the right package after the demo.
Do you offer monthly fees?
We generally encourage students to take longer-duration packages because creative arts learning works best with continuity and commitment. In certain cases, shorter starter options may be available for those who strongly prefer them.
Do you offer discounts?
As a policy, we do not position our core packages around discounting. Our fees are kept fair and standardized across students. However, certain incentives may be available in specific cases.
What incentives do you offer?
Depending on the situation, incentives may include family benefits, referral benefits, time-bound enrolment incentives, long-term learner benefits, end-date extensions under specific conditions, and certification-related benefits.
Is the fee refundable?
No. Fees are non-refundable. Students are encouraged to understand the course structure, guidelines, and package terms before enrolment.
What happens when my package ends?
You can renew and continue learning seamlessly. Our team can guide you on the next suitable package.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept payments through UPI, credit/debit cards, net banking, and in some cases cash.
7. Attendance, Missed Classes, and Continuity
What happens if I miss a class?
Handling of missed classes depends on the package type, academy policies, and available alternate options. We recommend informing the team in advance wherever possible.
Are missed classes covered?
They may be accommodated depending on the package selected and slot availability. It is not automatic in every case.
What happens if I miss multiple classes?
Missing multiple classes can slow progress, but the teacher and team can guide the student on how to catch up through focused practice and continuity.
Can I take a break from classes?
In some cases, yes, depending on the package terms and operational feasibility.
What if I am irregular in attending classes?
Regular attendance is extremely important in creative arts. Irregularity affects continuity, confidence, and overall learning speed.
Will I get reminders for classes?
In many cases, reminders and follow-ups may be shared to help students stay on track.
8. Learning Method, Practice, and Student Progress
How is student progress tracked?
We follow the Shiksha–Diksha–Pariksha approach — learn, practise, perform. Progress is tracked through regular class development, teacher observation, practice continuity, performance opportunities, and where relevant, certification milestones. We also make strong use of technology through teacher and student dashboards to bring more structure and visibility into the learning process.
How much practice is required at home?
A good starting point is 15 to 30 minutes of focused practice on most days of the week. The exact amount depends on the student's age, course, level, and goals.
How important is home practice?
Home practice is important, but many new students — especially adults — often give more importance to practice than necessary in the beginning. A student first needs to understand how to practise, which usually takes a minimum of 3 to 6 months. That is one of the reasons most of our fee packages begin at 3 months and ideally 6 months.
A few practical tips:
- First understand how to practise by regularly attending classes for 2 to 4 months.
- Practise under the clear guidance of the teacher. Do not practise without guidance, and do not practise things that have not yet been taught.
- Start with around 20 minutes and then gradually increase the duration to 45 minutes to 1 hour.
- The most important thing in practice is consistency — it is not the duration of one session, but how regularly and consistently you practise that determines your progress.
Will I be able to perform songs quickly?
Beginners can often start doing simple pieces or songs within a few weeks, especially with regular attendance and practice.
How long before I see improvement?
With steady classes and genuine practice, many students begin noticing visible improvement within a few weeks. Meaningful long-term growth, of course, comes from consistency over months and years.
Is the syllabus fixed or flexible?
We follow a structured syllabus and progression approach, but adapt teaching according to each student's pace, age, and goals.
Do you teach songs of my choice?
Yes. Along with structured syllabus progression, we also try to include songs or pieces based on student interest wherever appropriate.
What if I don't want exams and just want to learn?
That is absolutely fine. Students can continue learning without pursuing external certification. The focus then remains on skill development, repertoire, confidence, and enjoyment of the art.
9. Exams, Certifications, and Long-Term Growth
Do you offer exam preparation?
Yes. We prepare students for recognized external certifications as well as structured in-house learning pathways.
Which certifications do you support?
For Western music, we support Trinity certifications. For Hindustani Vocal, Tabla, and Kathak, students may be prepared for Gandharva Mahavidyalaya pathways. For some other disciplines such as Bharatanatyam, Carnatic Vocal, and Art, KaushikDhwanee is building and refining its own structured certification path.
We also train students for state-level certificate courses and diploma courses. Our certification syllabus is comprehensive — by going through it properly, a student becomes ready to take state-level certificate courses, diploma courses, or other recognized government degree pathways.
What is the Trinity exam process?
Students are first evaluated by the teacher to determine readiness and grade suitability. Once eligible, the application process is handled in a guided manner by the academy, while the student completes the required exam fee payment and documentation steps.
What are the benefits of certification?
Certification brings structure, milestone-based growth, motivation, and recognition. It can also strengthen academic or extracurricular profiles and, for serious learners, support long-term teaching or performance aspirations.
Can I make a career in music or the arts after learning here?
Yes, with sufficient long-term commitment, performance exposure, and certification where relevant, students can move toward professional pathways including performance, teaching, or advanced study.
Do you help students become music teachers?
Structured learning and certification pathways can definitely support that journey. Students who continue seriously over time can build strong foundations for teaching.
Do you support advanced or professional-level training?
Yes. Serious learners and advanced students can be guided through deeper, long-term training pathways.
Can I prepare for stage performances professionally?
Yes. We help students build stage readiness, performance confidence, and artistic maturity through guided preparation and performance opportunities.
10. Performance, Exposure, and Parent Support
Will I get opportunities to perform in front of an audience?
Yes. We regularly create performance opportunities to help students build confidence, expression, and stage comfort.
What performance opportunities do you provide to students?
We organise our internal JAM Room sessions, typically once in three months. We organise our flagship annual concert once a year in a large outside auditorium, in which students who have been learning consistently for 9+ months participate and showcase their talent. We often organise another concert once in about six months.
Beyond this, we also receive invitations for festival performances in the community, and schools and other organisations invite us to perform.
Our founder follows a more conservative and traditional guru-shishya approach to performance opportunities. A student is usually given opportunities to perform as a booster to their learning when they have demonstrated sincerity and progress. Our senior students with 5+ years of learning may perform many times in a year.
Do you provide certificates for performances or events?
Yes, participation certificates may be given for performances, events, competitions, or internal activities where applicable.
Do you provide feedback to parents?
Yes. We make heavy use of our technology — including teacher and student dashboards — through which parents can keep track of the learning and progress of the student. Our teachers also assign learning resources and homework regularly, leading to continuous student engagement and better visibility into the learning journey.
How do you keep kids engaged?
We combine structured learning with interactive teaching, variety, encouragement, performance opportunities, and technology-enabled continuity to keep children interested and progressing.
Is it safe for children?
Yes. We aim to provide a safe, structured, and child-friendly learning environment.
11. Instruments, Setup, and Getting Started
Do I need to buy an instrument before joining?
Not necessarily. Many students can begin first, understand their interest better, and then make the purchase decision with guidance.
Which keyboard, piano, or guitar should I buy?
The right instrument depends on age, level, seriousness, and budget. Our team can guide you on what makes sense for your situation rather than pushing an unnecessary purchase.
What should I bring to class?
Bring your instrument where applicable, along with a notebook and a learning mindset.
How early should I arrive for class?
Arriving about 5 to 10 minutes early is ideal.
What do I need for online classes?
A basic setup is enough to begin — a device, stable internet, and the relevant instrument or materials.
What if I face technical issues in online classes?
Our team will help troubleshoot common issues so that learning can continue smoothly.
12. Knowledge Hub
What is the difference between keyboard and piano?
A piano is traditionally an acoustic instrument with weighted keys, richer dynamics, and a more classical performance-oriented feel. A keyboard is digital, generally more affordable, easier to maintain, and often more versatile for beginners and practical home use.
Should a child start with keyboard or piano?
In many cases, children begin with keyboard and transition later to piano if they become more serious and are ready for a stronger long-term commitment.
What is the difference between Hindustani and Carnatic vocal?
Both are Indian classical systems built on the same fundamental notes, but they differ in language traditions, stylistic presentation, voice culture, repertoire, and training methods.
Which should I choose — Hindustani or Carnatic?
A demo is the best way to decide. Some learners feel naturally drawn to one style over the other. Interest and connection matter more than rigid rules.
How long does it take to learn music or an art form properly?
That depends on your goal. A few years can build strong appreciation and foundation. Five or more years can lead to deep understanding and serious hobby-level competence. Professional-level mastery takes much longer and requires sustained discipline.
Why should one learn creative arts at all?
Creative arts help build discipline, concentration, confidence, sensitivity, persistence, expression, and overall character. They enrich both the mind and the personality, and they support balanced human development.
Is creative arts learning mandatory?
We believe creative arts learning is profoundly valuable for every human being. Whether one calls it mandatory or not, it plays an important role in developing balance, sensitivity, discipline, and overall growth.
